English - French glossary for carpooling in France and Europe with Vadrouille

You want to carpool in France ? Excellent idea, it's a good way to discover both France and french people. Our website is currently available only in french, so here is some explanation and vocabulary to help you navigate through the site and find places in car, or passengers if you are a driver.

Vadrouille carpooling website : how does it work ?

Vadrouille Covoiturage is a new carpooling match website where people can post trips and book seats online directly, without the harassment of doing it through a forum.

  • If you are a driver, you write your ad with detailed and precise departure and arrival information (cities, cross streets, times, number of seats and asked price; the journey is then automatically posted on the website; if someone books a seat, you receive an email and a text message on your mobile (if you have a french mobile number) to alert you ; come back on the site and confirm (or refuse) your passengers. When you confirm, you are given the mobile phone number, name and email of your passengers, and you can arrange directly with them the last details. You are paid after the trip, when your passengers confirm everything was ok, and within 7 days max. The site commission is 15% of the price of the seats.
  • If you are looking for a trip, you book and pay your seat directly on the website in just a few clicks. The driver receives the reservation by email / text message and accept (or refuse) it. When he/she accepts, you are given its phone number, name and email adress. After the trip, please come back on the site and tell us if everything was ok, so we can pay your driver, or pay you back if not.
